History & Leela

The eternal story of Shri Radha Krishna

Birth of Shri Krishna

Shri Krishna appeared in Mathura on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada, in the prison of King Kamsa. Born to Devaki and Vasudeva, He was carried across the Yamuna to Gokul that very night, where He was raised by Nanda Maharaj and Yashoda Maiya.

The scriptures describe the midnight sky filled with divine light, the guards falling into deep sleep, and the Yamuna parting to make way for the Supreme Lord — celebrated every year as Krishna Janmashtami.
